Infant Care
6 Weeks-12 Months
When you choose Little Scholars Academy of Sherwood, you can be confident your baby will experience a nurturing and calming environment focused on developing positive and trusting relationships. Starting when your infant is 6 weeks old, we'll nurture their development and take care of his or her daily needs.
Our specially trained infant teachers build a bond of trust with your baby and with you. We'll also stimulate your baby's cognitive, emotional and physical development by singing, talking, holding, reading and playing with them individually. It's the kind of infant childcare environment where children learn best and flourish.
Every day, you will receive a log of your child's feeding, sleeping, diapering and learning activities. With our commitment to excellence and teachers dedicated to the safety and education of your child, Little Scholars Academy of Sherwood’s Infant Program will put your mind at ease.
Toddlers
12 Months-36 Months
The Toddler Program at Little Scholars Academy of Sherwood focuses on a Whole Child Education and is designed around shared learning experiences that stimulate and challenge your child each and every day. We know that children learn best by having a variety of choices in an organized environment. That is why our learning centers include materials and manipulatives as well as planned activities that promote fine and gross-motor skills, receptive and expressive language, positive relationships with peers and adults, and intellectual curiosity - all while nurturing your child's developing sense of self.
Our clean and inviting classrooms and our curriculum are set up to promote active exploration. Rocking toys and large climbing structures develop gross-motor skills, while pretend play items like kitchen sets and play food illuminate a child's imagination. Families receive a daily log of their child's feeding, sleeping, diapering and learning activities.
2 Year Olds
Little Scholars Academy's unique 2-year-old curriculum is designed to support and reinforce the independence your 2-year-old exhibits by providing fun and challenging activities that promote all aspects of his development. Our 2-year-old program covers a wide range of skills including those related to self-help, language, cognitive and physical development.
The curriculum consists of units that run year-round:
- Listening to stories
- Introducing words
- Singing songs
- Simple math
- Art projects
- Help develop language & vocabulary skills
- Help develop movement & cognitive skills
Classroom Setting:
Each safe and secure classroom is designed with different interest centers, such as a storytelling center, a science and math center, reading center and dramatic play, just to name a few. Each classroom is designed with children in mind—shelves are open, supplies are easy to reach and tables are low so that your child can help the materials, and then help put them back when done. Families receive a daily communication of exactly what each child does every day.
Early Preschool
2-3 Year Olds
From infancy to preschool to kindergarten, at Little Scholars Academy of Sherwood your child will engage in exciting learning activities specifically designed to meet their developmental needs and help him or her advance to the next level. Our curriculums emphasize language and literacy, cognitive development, social-emotional skills, physical activity and creativity.
Our core principles begin with the simple truth that each child has a unique and individual nature, worthy of respect, nurture and celebration. We believe that children are natural learners who gain knowledge by doing and communicating—that’s why we always plan active and engaging experiences for your child. It’s our goal to facilitate experiences that promote children's natural curiosity to actively learn, while creating an environment that allows children to grow and develop at their own pace.
Our curriculum provides a balanced education for your child at every level of early development. And we go beyond basic academics by instilling positive traits that will lead to a lifetime of success.
Pre-Kindergarten
4-5 Year Olds
Our Pre-Kindergarten Program is specifically designed to meet the learning needs of 4 and 5-year-old children. Ensure your child will successfully and confidently enter kindergarten in the fall!
Our Pre-Kindergarten Program focuses on:
- Writing
- Math
- Science
- Social development
- Developing critical-thinking skills
- Stimulating intellectual curiosity
Our warm and educationally focused classrooms feature learning centers and are equipped with inviting, developmentally appropriate learning materials. The Literacy & Language Center introduces new sight words to children to expand their vocabulary and writing skills in a fun and interactive way.
Afterschool
5-12 Year Olds
Our before and after-school program provides the perfect combination of recreation and education for a well-balanced experience. Your child will end each day excited about the broad range of engaging activities that allow him to develop his interests and skills.
Want your child to complete her homework before you pick her up? No problem. We sit with you to outline your after-school expectations—whether they include homework or playtime.
Whenever school is not in session, Little Scholars Academy of Sherwood offers childcare that is engaging and educational. Join us for spring break and get a sneak peek into summer.
